Surgeons repair many types of hernias, from inguinal to para-esophageal, with most performed robotically. Benefits include shorter recovery time, less pain medication usage and less bleeding due to smaller incisions. Procedures include the following:
Many types of breast disorders are treated at Aultman General Surgery, from cancer to detection and prevention by yearly checkup and mammogram or ultrasound. Surgeons also treat colon cancers and/or diverticulitis-diverticulosis, as well as gallbladder disorders, emergency appendectomies and minor surgeries such as skin lesions, moles and skin tags.
All surgeons are board certified, while many have also had extra training for trauma. They were among the first in the area to perform robotic-assisted surgery for hernias and colon, and to date, have completed more than 1,000 robotic procedures. Robotic-assisted surgery allows our surgeons to perform many types of complex procedures with precision, flexibility and control. Dr. Steven Kelly trained several months on robotic procedures and has facilitated the training of his partners. He has also taught robotic courses on the national level. The surgeons cover a major part of the emergency room call for general surgeons as well as all the trauma calls for Aultman Hospital.
